Gift Certificate

Scott won a gift certificate at work for a free 30 minute massage. It is at a chiropractic center in Sandy. I am not going to use it. If there is anyone who would like to take it off my hands please let me know.

They're Home

After 3 months Emma and Jordan are back home. (Hopefully to stay) We celebrated by putting up the Christmas tree. My home was once quiet, but not anymore. It was amazing how quickly the noise level changed. Hannah is so happy to have them back. I am happy, but very tired. I quickly forgot how much energy three kids required. It also amazes me how much the kids have grown and changed.

We Are Having...

We had an ultrasound and it looks like Jordan is still going to need a brother. We are having a girl. We are all very excited though, especially Hannah. She has been wanting a girl from the begining. And she has also decided that she wants to name our baby. We'll see.

Marshmallow Temptation

I saw this on my sister-in-law's blog and thaught that I would share this on my blog. I hope she doesn't mind.

I came across this guys photography blog who said that he had stumbled across this little video clip (which he included on his site) and he loved it. I watched it out of curiosity - and I have to tell you all about it. It's really made me think - not only about each of my kids, but as us as adults also. The video was called The Marshmallow Temptation. Now, I've never gone out seeking other Christian teachings outside our church - but it was done by a preacher of another religion, but I think it's message was good.In the video, there are children in a room with a hidden camera. A man comes in and brings them a marshmallow and tells them, "you can eat this now if you want, but if you can wait till I come back then I will give you 2." Then the man left the room. Each child responded differently and it was interesting to see how each one handled "the temptation." Each child sat for at least a short moment and looked at the marshmallow intently. One just licked the top of it a few times. One picked off tiny little pieces from the back side so you couldn't see he had done it. (and ate them) Another just stuffed the whole thing in his mouth. One took a little bite, then put it back down, then another little bite, and put it back down, etc. Another one just pushed the marshmallow all the way across the table and turned and looked the other way. (Soon the man returned and gave each child who had not eaten theirs yet a second marshmallow.)This made me think about the ways that each of us react to temptations. Each person handles things in their own unique way - each person has a harder time with some things and an easier time with other things. But how do we react when temptation is facing us - are we like the kid who quickly snatches up the chance without even thinking, do we pick at it just a little at a time and before we realize it we're right in the middle of it, or do we push it away and look in the other direction? Each of these kids showed us how we could respond to temptations via a marshmallow - how do you think you'd respond if it were a temptation of something else?

Sorry, it's been so long!

As most of you know, I went to Idaho for two weeks. It was great. I was so busy though, going everywhere. The kids got to see fireworks twice. Once in Rigby and once in Idaho Falls. We had tons and tons of great food. I got to see all my brothers and sisters. (that hasn't happened for a long time.) But the best news, I found out on the 4th of July that I am having a baby. The kids are super excited, and Hannah is working hard at picking a name. It was a great vacation, but now I am glad to be home and finally get some rest. Also, Hannah has finished her book for learning how to read. We are so proud of her. She still struggles, but is doing such a fantastic job with her reading.

The House

We for sure have the house now! Yea! Now if I can just finish packing and cleaning on time. Without going insane that is.

Jordan and cell phones

A funny thing happened the other day. I was going through our stuff to get ready for a yard sale and just to clean up and dejunk. Well, Scott and I just use cell phones, no land line. I had a box with an old phone and answering machine. Jordan found it and asked me what it was. I said a phone. Then he asked, "is it a phone for a car?" And I explained that it wasn't, that it was a phone that you used in the house that was connected to the wall. Anyway to make a long story short, he didn't get it. Even though he has seen a land line phone, and even though we had one until a year ago, he obviously only understands cell phones. He kept giving me the strangest looks about that phone and kept trying to figure out how it worked.
It sounds like we for sure have the house, but because of Memorial Day we won't have everything finalized until Tuesday.

Here I am!

I am finally cool! (according to Ann, who helped me set this up). We are currently looking for a new place to live. So when we finally get a home I will post some pictures. We did look at a home today and hopefully will know if it is a possibility tomorrow.
